| Cuisine:Steakhouse Experience: Located on a discreet, townhouse-lined block somewhere between midtown and the Upper East Side, the Post House is arguably the city's most genteel steakhouse. The large, brightly lit, cream-colored room features beautiful art and a quite elegance. The service matches the atmosphere - perfect and understated. Traditionally, steaks, chops and giant lobster are the backbone of the menu. The crab cocktail is an excellent appetizer and the salads are a little lighter and more polished than at many typical steakhouses. The steaks are thick and perfectly done, and the filet mignon is particularly large for its kind. Side dishes are typical: onion rings, mushroom caps, french fries - all more than big enough for two. Among the desserts, the chocolate cake is definitely the way to go.
